Banked has been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ (2023), with 99% of our employees strongly agreeing that Banked is an amazing place to work . This honour was awarded by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture.

Creating a positive culture of inclusivity and belonging is just one of the reasons why the company ranked 15 in the Medium size category and why employees love working for Banked.

"Everyone has an opportunity to get special recognition"

We are excited to be recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2023, in the medium companies category. This is part of the prestigious Great Place to Work rankings in the UK, a really exciting milestone. This was based on a comprehensive review of our culture, wellbeing, approaches to career development and leadership, alongside survey responses from our employees.

Being recognised as one of the best UK workplaces is about the work that has gone into building a culture that we can all be proud of. All the responses that led to this recognition came directly from our employees, a testament to what is unique about Banked and our areas of opportunity to continue to improve on.

“Fully embracing and respecting remote work, with opportunities to meet in person”

Creating an inclusive and supportive workplace is all about – developing a sense of belonging whereby people feel heard, seen, valued and recognised, as well as creating an environment of growth to evolve and thrive.

Some of the key initiatives that we believe have helped us to achieve this are:

A global, diverse, and inclusive place to be yourself.

We are proud of our inclusive and diverse culture, where people feel psychologically safe to bring their whole self to work. As we are a remote first company and have employees based all over the world, we prioritise a tailored and mindful onboarding process for our people and creating the best possible experience to ensure they feel connected from day one. One example is “Meet the Team monthly sessions” to welcome our new joiners and introduce them to other teams from the start of their journey and to break down barriers to conversations, a sometimes difficult first step across a distributed organisation.

“Amazing global and diverse team”
Recognition

We have distilled our values into Curiosity, Warmth and Ownership. These values are at the core of everything we do, weaving them into onboarding with collaborative workshops and constantly giving the team the chance to not only display them, but own them and bring them to life themselves. We have a quarterly awards program called “Fund-a-Goal” that goes towards supporting an employees’ personal passions and interests such as obtaining a diving certification with the Professional Association of Diving or completing a program and becoming Linux certified for open-source monitoring & alerting solution Prometheus. Our shout -out channel in Slack is the most popular one!

Volunteering

Building on a strong sense of purpose that aligns with personal values and helping our community, we give our employees three days a year to dedicate towards volunteering activities. As a company, we love taking part in charitable events that bring us closer together.

“We have distilled our values into Ownership, Warmth and Curiosity. I genuinely feel that the team lives those values each day”.
Supporting parents

Giving working parents the time and support they need to care for their children is so important. All primary carers are entitled to five months of fully paid parental leave. We also have up to five weeks of paid partner’s leave and ten paid ‘keeping in touch’ days to help parents stay connected. Being able to work remotely, and offer flexible hours, has enabled us to have access to a more diverse workforce.

“It's a young company that is making a massive effort to make its employees feel special and give them a safe environment where they can do their best work”
Wellbeing

Protecting and preserving the wellbeing and mental health of our employees is our number one priority. We offer our employees unlimited therapy sessions through an on-demand platform.

Learning & Development

Apart from learning from one another with the amazing talented team we are very fortunate to have at Banked, we give our employees one afternoon a month to spend towards their personal growth, and have the time to make the most of our learning platform to upskill and learn something new.

What Banked employees are saying:

“The level of transparency and inclusion that is exhibited from the management is refreshing and makes people feel that they really are part of the journey and not just a means to an end.”

“We have a true culture of transparency and learning. We want all staff to challenge management and strategy. We always aim to communicate with openness to change or accelerate.”

“It's a young company that is making a massive effort to make its employees feel special and give them a safe environment where they can do their best work”.

Great Place to Work

Great Place to Work themselves embodies our values has been great to partner with them as we evolve and grow our business.

“As the global authority on workplace culture, our mission at Great Place to Work® has always been to build a better world by helping organisations become a great place to work for all. We strongly believe in the notion of ‘better for business, better for people, better for the world,” said Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK.

“Best Workplaces™ consistently put people first – not just in terms of looking out for their own employees but also by caring for and supporting their surrounding community and environment. We’re incredibly proud to recognise the very best ‘For All’ organisations committed to equity and unfaltering in ensuring that all employees are empowered to deliver the right strategic solutions to ever-changing business opportunities and challenges.”

A great workplace is more than lavish perks, fancy parties and amazing benefits. While those elements are present in many Best Workplace™ organisations, at its core a great workplace is about the level of trust that employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs; and the extent to which they experience camaraderie with their colleagues.

Great Place to Work® performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2023 UK's Best Workplaces™ list. They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies' employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience.

Those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.
